ARTHUR PIRIE HOUCHIN 1925-1993
  Arthur Pirie Houchin was born January 5, 1925 in Monticello, White, Indiana. He was the middle of five children born to Arthur Preston and Jane (Pirie) Houchin. The youngest son died just days after birth. His mother died when he was 12 years old. It appears the family was split up after her death. The father is listed in the 1940 census alone. He was an assistant janitor and earned $450 the prior year.  In 1943 Arthur Jr. joined the Navy. In 1946 he and his siblings filed a suit against the estate of their maternal grandfather, James Pirie, for one-third of the of the $75,000 estate. Arthur was married twice and divorced both times.  His first wife Marguerite Barnette filed for divorce in November of 1950 seeking custody of the children and alimony. But there must have been a change of mind. Then in January of 1952 Arthur sued for divorce and custody of the children. I never found their marriage record or final divorce. I also never found a record of his second marriage, but in February of 1963 he is once again sue for divorce by his wife Edna Faye Becknell. Arthur stayed in the Cincinnati, Ohio area until his death in 1993.

1. Richard Dale Houchin 1949-1979
   Richard graduated from Lockland High School in 1968. He was married about 1971 and divorced in 1977. He died in a auto accident.

2. Darcy Allen Houchin 1950-1969
  By 1954 Darcy was living with his great uncle Alex Pirie in White Co. Indiana. This was shortly after the divorce of his parents. He graduated from high school in White County, Indiana and the next year, 1968 he joined the Marines.  Unfortunately he died in Vietnam from "friendly fire." He was on a search and clear mission when the grenade of a fellow soldier exploded.

Arthur had a son and daughter by his second wife Edna Faye Becknell.
